All those valuable Tithe-Free Estates called by the respective Names of Kiln-Hill, Harrows, and the Close.... consisting of three Dwelling Houses.... 105 Acres.... a right upon a valuable and extensive adjoining Common...... Handbill, size 12" x 7«", traces of folds, headings in a variety of type-faces. Gives names of tenants and description of premises. Carlisle: Printed at B. Scott's Office, 1802. £30.00

    The property was held under the Manor, the Lord of which was the Duke of Devonshire.

Outer sheet leaf with docket title dusty, with tear at fold. Docket title stained at edge. 1860. £20.00

  8. Greenwood (C. & J.) MAP OF THE COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND from an actual Survey made in the Years 1821 and 1822. By C & J. Greenwood, Most Respectfully Dedicated to the Nobility, Clergy & Gentry of the County by the Proprietors. London, Published by Geo. Pringle Junr. 70 Queen Street, Cheapside. Fine engraved map with full wash hand-colouring, scale 1" to 1 mile, size 72" x 60", scale 1" = 1 mile. Dissected and mounted on linen, folding into marbled endpapers 10" x 6". Edged with green silk tape. Large calligraphic title, table bottom left with Altitudes of the Principal Mountains, Explanation, compass rose, large vignette view of Carlisle. Inserted in original full calf pull-off slipcase in the form of a book, chipped morocco label to spine. Calf rubbed at corners and edges, small piece missing in top left corners from surface of calf. There are two thin brownish lines across the marbled endpapers, not affecting the map itself. 1823. £800.00
    A fine clean copy with fresh bright colouring.

Folio sheets listing 31 fields on 1st page and 3 on second page, ruled with columns for acreage, price per acre, amount payable, with totals at end. Some small nicks at right margin. Folds. n.d. early 19th century. £35.00
    Names include Broad Butts, Beanlands, Lairlands, Ricket Yeat, Stub Dale, Shield Close.
